As the nation's largest provider of affordable housing, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) owns and operates more than 178,000 apartments and serves more than a million New Yorkers. In May 2015, NYCHA released Next Generation NYCHA (NextGen NYCHA), the plan to address structural budget deficits and aging infrastructure by embarking on a strategic transformation to change how NYCHA looks, how it operates and how it is funded. The Energy and Sustainability department stewards the NextGen NYCHA commitment to develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability agenda to reduce NYCHAâ€™s energy and resource consumption and carbon footprint, improve resident health and wellbeing, and create environmentally friendly developments for NYCHAâ€™s residents and the surrounding communities. Building on a 20-year track record of successful energy efficiency initiatives, the department will now expand its activities to support and champion a comprehensive and strategic approach to all areas of sustainability, including energy efficiency and management, water efficiency and management, waste reduction and management, and healthy and comfortable indoor environments. The Deputy Director of Program Management will oversee project management, sustainability metrics, and reporting related to the NextGen NYCHA comprehensive sustainability agenda. Specific duties shall include, but not be limited to the following: 1. Manage the initiation, planning, and implementation of sustainability projects to make best practice the common practice throughout NYCHAâ€™s Capital Projects Division. 2. Manage the initiation and pre-development planning and coordination of energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality for moderate rehabilitation projects. 3. Manage a close collaboration with the Community Programs & Development Division to support sustainability initiatives led by and for residents, and benefiting the neighborhoods surrounding NYCHA developments 4 Lead a rigorous pursuit of impact measurement and performance data analysis. 5.Provide management oversight of project management and data analysis staff.
