**Amended in Salary Hiring Rate: $71.23 Per Hour (Flat Rate) On-Board Rate After One Year: $76.30 Per Hour (Flat Rate) 35 hours/week The Bureau of School Health (OSH) is a joint program of the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene responsible for promoting the health of the 1.3 million school children enrolled in approximately 1,800 public and non-public schools in New York city; they advocates for the health and well-being of the children and adolescents of New York city; OSH has been the provider of public health services in the schools for 100 years. DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: Under the supervision of the Deputy Medical Director, the Supervising Medical Doctor will have the following responsibilities: â€¢ Supervise Field Physicians. â€¢ Work within the mandates, policies and protocols of the Office of School Health (OSH). â€¢ Perform mandated physical examination (new entrant, sport physical, working paper physical). â€¢ Attend to the health needs of designated school community. â€¢ Utilize the Automated Student Health Record (ASHR) to maintain adequate student record. â€¢ Serve as a consultant to the school nurse and administration on school related health concerns. â€¢ Support the development of school educational and prevention programs promoting the health and wellness of our students. â€¢ Provide clinical assistance in the event of an environmental or communicable disease occurrence. â€¢ Function as a liaison for students with community health providers to resolve school related issues. â€¢ Ability to maintain good public relations and to communicate effectively within the school community. â€¢ Support all medical initiatives put forth by the Office of School Health, e.g. Asthma, Reproductive health, Obesity and Diabetes Initiatives. â€¢ Keep abreast of health management policy statements and emerging research within the health community affecting school health. â€¢ Participate in School Health research activities, attend mandated DOHMH and Office of School Health training. â€¢ Meet for all program meetings and Continuing Medical Education classes provided by the Office of School Health.
